What makes you who you are. The real you...the deeper you.Is it environment, heredity or perhaps education? Maybe it is something much more elusive, much harder to define.
Within my soul, there is locked away,
a thousand different lives.
For sometimes a life is but a day,
yet the soul, always survives.
Memories of them are hidden, yet stay
and their faces, I can't see.
In a past life, they had a part to play.
Their essence resides in me.
Perhaps some led the simplest of lives,
having only basic things.
Others, possibly made very great strides,
aquiring the best life brings.
When I attempt to silence my mind,
whispers softly touch my brain.
They speak about a long ago time.
My soul is their domain.
Maybe there are lessons yet to learn,
which they must properly teach.
There could be pages I need to turn,
a destiny I must reach.
They seem to defy both time and space,
as they reach out from the past.
content to stay in this obscure place,
until they complete their task.

|I too believe that the soul never "dies," Jane. Thank you for sharing your philosophy on this theme. Love and peace,
