images of the past

He was there in the shadows

so very still, did I really see him, was he real?

I felt his nearness, he radiated love.

I  stood there watching

yearning to touch,

to feel his embrace.

I closed my eyes

remembering his face.

I looked again, the shadow was gone.

Had there been nothing all along?
