And so a mommy and best friend,
With love no rule need bend,
There from the heavens up above,
Send me a bird to hold and love,
A little robin sweet, sugar and cinnamon,
My heart with its tiny peep has won,
Grown now proud, and orange chest,
A teenage bird, am I not blessed?
In my garden paradise out back with trees,
He from the top, the world now sees,
Swoops down, often more than not,
He uses my head for a landing spot,
His favourite spot the compost pile,
Somehow that does him beguile,
And now he found the fountain too,
There too in happiness finds true ,
Spoiled he is with treats and such,
Does now and then from fingers snatch,
The other night he ran away,
Stayed out all night to play,
This teenage child, em bird,
I know this is absurd,
Hell he raised next morn, and he was sore,
When he found out I locked the door,
But now we’re friends again,
He comes around just now and then,
The best of both worlds now has he,
Social security , while he is free.©13/08/2009
