DON'T DO IT...

Sometimes we feel like giving up
It has happened to us all
And often through our troubled lives
Well we know, we'll trip and fall

But suicide's not the answer friend
Even though your feeling small
Cause' when you go and kill yourself
For you, your killing us all

So you're drinking in a darkened room
A most dangerous thing, I say
Cause I know you'll feel so differently
In the cold clear light of day

Think of the pain in your loved ones hearts
When you selfishly leave them behind
And the terrible grief you will cause them
Through your unclear, scrambled mind

So your partners left you high and dry
There's no future that you can see
Well don't sit back and take it friend
Cause' there's more fish in the sea

Now the debt it quickly gained on you
All this worry caused you pain
Don't be an ostrich, head in the sand
Get up and start again

And if you get those dangerous thoughts
Steer clear of the alcohol
Cause' things we do in a drunken state
Are not the real us at all

So think of others as your life goes on
Of the love that you will install
And one day dear friend, on a sunny day
You'll stand firm and you'll stand tall

I CAN'T SPEAK FOR OTHERS, GERALD...BUT AS FOR ME...MY 'STRENGTH' TO GO ON LEFT ME A LONG TIME AGO, BUT...JESUS...HE CARRIES ME. AND THAT'S WHY I AM HERE...ONE DAY AT A TIME, DEPENDING WHOLLY AND SOLELY...ON HIM. TRUELY...IT IS SO TRUE; WHEN WE ARE WEAK...HE 'IS', SO STRONG. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...

Suicide is not always done in the depths of despair. For some, it's just time to go. They've had enough and they're tired. They know what tomorrow has to offer, but they're done shopping. We'll shut the door on our way out.

Gerald, this is a most rewarding poem for this reader, because it demonstrates the will of a person to forge forward regardless of the circumstances facing them and to stay clear of the habits that can destroy a person. I'd say you have a great write here Gerald and I truly enjoyed it!

GERALD,
BRAVO!!! This poem is outstanding. I hope the person who needs to read this DOES and is saved by it. In the depths of despair so many don't stop and think that death is FINAL. There is no coming back later on. It's done. As you say alcohol intensifies your despair. More than excellent write, my friend. This is superb!

Many blessings,
~Linda
