SPEED KILLS

Take it easy

I hit the gas on a downhill run
And was thrust back in my seat
To feel the power surrounding me
Well, its simply just a treat

I saved for years to buy this beast
Eight cylinders pumping fast
As junior executive of a growing firm
I'd made my mark at last

Then a corvette threw the gauntlet down
As it passed me in high gear
But I quickly threw her down a notch
He watched my tail lights disappear

Then I thundered off the freeway
And it ended then and there
As I hit the steep embankment
And I sailed up through the air

So I looked down at the wreckage
As I floated in a trance
And I saw my dead body lying there
I would have no second chance

So take you heed of my poor end
Slow down and make life last
And should you drive a high powered car
Ease you're foot back off the gas
