Domestic Violence

I should have realized it then!
when once I allowed you to come into me…

By the way you pounded loudly on my door
trying to get me to open up my space to you…

I should have known it
Wasn’t a safe thing to do!

You wore those steel-toed shoes and corrupted attitude…
Stomping and tracking in your dirt and mud…

Leaving boot prints that stained me…
Now I look within and see your negligence there

I cannot wash away the evidence that remains!

No matter the tactics or tricks I may try…
I’m devastated by the destruction of my space
I succumb to my inability to restore the original luster…

Although it’s been some time since I last invited you in…
It’s far from the last time you have intruded…

Regardless of how I bolt, lock, even barricade my space…
You somehow elude the obstacles nonetheless…

Although I may not have seen you enter…
The evidence remains that you were back again!

The fading stains resurrect with vivid blatancy…
Your premeditated reminder of your incessantly biased truth
relentlessly trying to subdue and consume mine!

…And so it goes… the evidence remains.
