Veiled Moon

Veiled Moon

fog veiled moonlit night
silent except a thrum
ears vibrating toneless
eyes blinking starless

the darkness held no word
the darkness held no voice

the soul becomes distressed
cold mist begins to fall
the moon removes it’s veil
a face appears there
the fog begins to crawl
stars wink in a blur

young lovers were torn
young lovers were tattered

covering each other in fear
hearts rapidly beating as one
the crisp cold flew near

the moon begins to shake
the moon begins to shiver

a winters night was born
the fog now veiled stars
star stricken lovers

whose ears heard
whose eyes peered

youths eyes couldn’t see
youths eyes couldn’t be

embraced by the fog
entranced by the fog

the heart was veiled
the heart was vanquished

a thrum was heard
moonlight shone
stars winked alone
the night was done
the truth just one word

alone...

lovers awaited the dawn
broken hearts fell upon
the rising sun
sun rays pierce the sky
lovers part

Joggles the memory, bringing the memory of young lovers to life. Achingly long and painful in the ending juxtaposition. The language is sparse and powerfully emotive. As per your usual genius, the imagery is stunning. A beauty, Dale...Lin

Oh dear! What a night!! Sounds like confusion reigns... bit like a scene from a Shakespearian play. The tensions and countertensions are palpable, Dale. I like the confidence you display in this writing. It stands strong and is very nicely controlled, conveying drama without being overly-dramatic, yet very effective. Hope this new decade finds you well and on the up! xx

Eloquent, yet laconic...this poem shreds the heart to pieces. Such a night! Doom and gloom and chill. Effective writing.
