Some random thoughts I just threw down in the last sixty seconds...

I look out
at the night sky
wondering where I am
in the vastness beyond.
Is the here I know
anything of import,
or will tomorrow
show me another dream?

I fight through each day
with fists of fury
failing to connect.
I feel my enemy under
my skin, the animal
burning in my chest.
I get a hold of it
with my bloody palms
and it turns to dust,
as nothingness it is.

There is fleeting glory
in the sight of my own
fading memories. Where
do I go from here?

Hi Martin,

"I fight through each day
with fists of fury
failing to connect."

These are the lines that make this write a whole. I can identify with this rant, as well as others can, I'm sure. Thank you for sharing...

An impressive self rant indeed. I relate tremendously with this poem. I am going through this very dilemma but try to direct that energy in a positiove direction. Not something I have been known for in the past. Guess we ARE like cheese and mellow with age. Great piece.
