Babes And Sucklings
by Janice Scott

Who's watching over the children? Rumors are flying about the new reverend in town, Vernon Skelly. He is very odd, but can he really be a pedophile...

DEATH

Who can withstand thy wrath?
At your disposal
You take away your victims
You strike at an unpresented time with delectation
You destroy a body
A body that has undergone rigorous exercises with build-ups
A body that’s weak alike

You make souls shout at top of their voices
Without being heard
When you want a soul to have a taste of your wrath
You make it rimmed at coma

When you enter a home
You enter quietly without being heard, without being summoned
But when you are out
Everyone hue and cries on your name, pleading
You do not answer ‘cause it’s too late
They all have been hors de combat

Nobody wants you
Nobody wants to have a share of your sweet delicacy
But they want to go to heaven
Isn’t that funny

Death! Death!! Death!!!
Those you’ve left untouched have given your name a novelty
They’ve changed your name ‘cause it’s too harsh on them
When someone assists in getting him/her
You’re called “suicide”
When someone assists you getting another
You’re christened “murder or man slaughter or better still homicide”
When you come quietly, unheard, unlistened to
You’re called “passed away or kicked the bucket”

You can make millions cry at your whisper
Likewise, you can make thousands delirious at your roaring voice
Some people regard you as a pleasure seeker
Is that true ?

Is it also true that you know no one?
You know no class, age and race
Whether we like it or not
You’re the omega of birth

You’re such an enigma
Few people know you and understand you
Please do not give me a surprise visit
Your surprise visit will surely, definitely result in an unexpected end

Death! Death!! Death!!!
I salute your courage
You retire people that are willing or not
You retire them to sunnier climes
Where they are no more in control any longer
Death you are a mystical being
