Children Playing, American Treasures

This is a scene of the impressionist painter, Mary Cassatt, born 1844-1926. It is an American scene she did and it was found in later years. The USPO copyrighted it by the date of 2002 onto a stamp. I took that stamp and wrote this poem. Similiar to what Michelle Mead does but I do not mean to be copying her at all. I am just experimenting!

My dress is dirty
because of the
sand.
I do not mind
though.
Neither does
Julie.
We love to
build sand
castles near
the water.

My skin stays
light while
Julie gets
very dark!
We fight over
the shovel.
Our socks
are wet.
There are things
out on the
water! WOW!
My hat with
the ribbon has
blown away.
Mommy or Daddy
will find it.

It is pretty in
the sunshine.
