Here's one to frighten the kids with. Image by Hettie Rowley.

The Stealer

Shut fast the blinds and kill the light
The Stealer comes this way tonight

See image shadows

On the wall

Mirrored thoughts

From the Stealer’s Hall

He comes! He comes!

In dead of night

Your heart to steal

Your soul to blight

See the flames of fire that prance

Madly midst the Stealer’s dance

Hear the breath of men grown cold

As fear takes heart from young and old

He comes! He comes!

In dead of night

Your heart to crush

Your soul to blight

Ancient bones ‘round ruined parts

Creeping softly through your hearts

Ruined face and withered eyes

The Stealer comes in dark disguise

He comes! He comes!

In dead of night

Your heart to burn

Your soul to blight

With rotting fume of blighted breath

The Stealer comes, the Lord of death

See his face within your mind

No sleep tonight for human kind

He comes! He comes!

In dead of night

Your heart to stab

Your soul to blight

No deed so fair or crime so vile

Can hide you from the Stealer’s guile

So steel your heart and hold your breath

And wait in fear

For death! For death!

He comes! He comes!

In dead of night

Your heart to kill

Your soul to blight

 Heh Heh!!!

Very powerful and ominous! Love the flow of this piece. You've given the famous boogeyman a much needed kick into this decade; a new persona to fear at night. Yet, the Stealer can be feared in the spiritual sense as well as the physical sense. A dark masterpiece:) Love and Hugs,
