Beyond the domain of God's falsehoods lies the promise of peace...

Bring Me Swiftly to Eternal Darkness

Bring me swiftly to eternal darkness

Bear me kindly from the light

Speed my soul beyond God’s heaven

Cast my spirit into night

Lift the yolk of mortal suffering

Ease the pain of earthly plight

Bring me safely to the darkness

Cast me out from cruel light

Spin my soul a shroud of midnight

Glaze my eyes with fog of death

Bring me kindly to the darkness

Hasten death to my last breath

No more I’ll witness sites of horror

Of children raped and women bruised

No more I’ll weep o’er bloodied corpses

No more hear innocence abused

Pray, kill the sounds of sorrowed children

Slay the sights of pain and loss

Bring me swiftly to the darkness

Nail my soul to evil’s cross

No more I’ll trust the words of heaven

Of Christ, Mohammed, Allah and God

Bring me gently to the darkness

Save me from the lies of God

Bear witness now you hosts of heaven

Bear witness now all spawn of hell

No more your lies will reason leaven

I bid thee all a last farewell

So bring me swiftly to the darkness

Hasten from the curse of light

Beyond the will of hell and heaven

Beyond the power of God to blight.

Keith I am not a morbid person but I want to tell you I have been right where this poem takes my mind back to. A brilliant piece of writing.

You're right, Keith; you are morbid. I suppose I am as well most of the time. I can empathize with the sentiments that you express here. Best wishes to you,

Regis
