I was thinking of calling this 'The Queen of Hearts', but somehow didn't think it appropriate - what do you think?

Beneath the chill of the winter sun
The dancers drag their chains
Howling high o’er moor and dale
Red poison in their veins

Their prey skulks low and seeks for blood
And vomit bile and slime
Whilst our lady slits her throat again
And drowns in tides of time

Thundering o’er the vasty fields
Red overlords tread stone
The cadence of the Titans’ tread
Shatters heart and bone

And see the snow white rabbit run
Swerving hard and fast
See chained dancers strip its flesh
As love looks on, aghast

Green tides rush in upon the beach
Then leap like frightened deer
Vomiting monsters of the deep
Upon red shores of fear

Amid the roil the Queen of Hearts
Spits mercy at a child
And crushes her with force of arms
Then laughs in fury wild

Rising red amid the shells
Of souls devoid of breath
The lady of our hearts walks on
Ascends the throne of death

Play on! Play On! Our Lady howls
As she poisons life’s frail streams
The horrors of her love abound
And drown the world in screams

The dove of peace falls from the sky
And murdered children dream
As all around them goblins stalk
And golden flowers gleam

Gaily now we dance around
In a silver rain of sin
Our Lady at the centre spins
Twelve souls upon a pin

And faster spins the gyre of life
Confusion reigns once more
Blood-chaos claims the soul of man
Our Queen screams loud for more

I am the Queen of Hearts she cries
Your souls are mine to burn
In the red-fire heat of sickened love
Six centuries to learn

Six centuries beyond the mind
Of all that you hold dear
Beyond the wishing well of time
Beyond the realm of fear

Six centuries beyond the gate
Of great Orion’s arm
Beyond the power of blood and fate
Within the realm of harm

Within the realm of harm I bid
Thee come unto my bed
Three mighty sons shall I conceive
Murder, Rape and Dread

Three mighty sons need three white brides
Three brides devoid of flaw
Love and Sex and Gentleness
Corrupted by my law

Three white brides, three mighty sons
In union borne of fear
Joining death and violent strife
With all that man holds dear

Three white brides, three mighty sons
Shall birth three gifts to me
Three river tides of debauched blood
Shall flow o’er all to be

And so the Queen of blood and dread
With power of twisted love
Has birthed the monsters in our hearts
And slain the snow white dove

So all the world’s a tapestry
Wrought by god above
But every man and woman cursed
By the Red Queen’s poisoned love

I'm not much for bloody ghoulish tales. But your imagination runs wild in this one, so I give you credit for creating a few nightmares.

Keith, the rhyme is amazing the imagery mystic and chilling. I really like your poetry. It's so unique and original. You are a gifted poet.

I believe either title would work well :)

Great poem and very dark, much darker than mine could ever be. My idea is it pretty much says a lot for government and politicians!

Quite a powerful piece; love the rhyming, too.

Nightmares of the mind, of blood and flesh roiling from the bloodstained tip of your talented pen, a cruel meal of life and death,, bless ya Keith!
