I remember the bliss of a summer day
For I was Young and Loved and it was May
Gathering lilac flowers with perfume sweet
A certain knowing when twin souls meet
Heartbeats quickened pulses with our first kiss
Sailing through clouds on golden wings of dreams in flight
We soared to ethereal heights of love’s delight
As young lover's we tied a knot with our promise true
Sadly a promise kept by me but not by you
And still I wonder where you are today
For I was Young and Loved and it was May ~

I do love the spring lilacs, but like summer best. ARe in summer here and not looking forward to the days of autumn. It is July but time goes by so past. I am never ready to give up summer time. Love the heat, wish I could live in Florida. Not even a possibility.

Bittersweetly engaging verses, Helena. Well done. This is a sad but common theme and you have presented it very effectively. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and peace to you,

Flush! takes you on a poetic journey that touches many areas of human experience. But, in spite of the diversity the poems have a common resonance or theme that is ancient and agel..
