I promise ~

I won't look behind
like Lot's wife
I am already a pillar of salt
crumbling into the earth

I promise ~

I won't watch your
sandy footprints
reach to beyond

I promise ~

you won't see my tears
splash on arid ground
where nothing can ever grow

I promise ~

I won't turn back
one more time
believing this was
forever, as

You promised ~
