Black darkness
deeper than a starless
moonless night.
I watched as it swept
into your eyes
making your soul
darker
blacker
than the night.

Pointed darts
flew off your tongue
and passed your lips
piercing me
until
my heart
became a sieve.

You turned away
and walked into
the darkness
leaving me
with
the laughter
of your cruel
satisfaction.

Haunted by
echoes of you
I sat beneath that black sky
removing the darts
one by one
and wept
as the love
poured out of my heart.

You effectively convey the hurt that words can cause, Marilyn; and how they can break one's heart. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Regis
