Print Save Become a Fan
In the next Stan Turner Mystery, Cash Call, set for release next summer, Stan finds this anonymous poem in his briefcase.
The clock is my worst enemy
It ticks with chilling regularity
You should be next to me, annexed to me
I long for your touch, the warmth of your body
But I'm alone. Always, always alone
The long days without you drain me
I feel weary and subdued
Depression is my only companion
You should be with me, to cheer me
But Iím alone, always, always alone
The long nights are the bleakest hours
As I yearn for the sound of your voice
We should be together, hand in hand
But I am alone, always, utterly alone!
Your love awaits you, but not forever
I am patient, but not a fool
You must come to me soon, for I will not
Always, always be alone

|You did this very well.. capturing the scent of longing and the soul crushing acknowledgement the wait will not be forever.

|Yes, we will never be always alone. There is always someone ready to take the love. She'd better buck up!|
