downcast lady on the edge of nothingness
I hear you by the sea
blending into the swirling fog
you turn away from me
but I plead you not to go
it would be so easy to resign yourself
to the cruel lullaby of the crashing waves' undertow
there is no pale blush left that illumines your cheeks
yet still I beg for you not to go...
remember before blackness replaced the sun
and your smile was a brilliant bouquet
although all you see is murkiness now
it could be that way again
I look at you now and beneath that deep aching
I see a faint ember inside
the resilient soul evil could never crush
even at this moment still
though I see your tear
it helps me to know your will to live is there
please do not go my beautiful one
step back from the ledge
fair child of auburn hair.
