Flickering flame of haunting memories;
A candle burns on memory’s altar.
Deeply engrossed in sublime reveries
My life-force within begins to falter,
As I muse about a long lost gentle kiss,
Her velvety skin, the silk of her hair,
And the uplifting, soul-inspiring bliss
Of words of love expressed in soft whisper.
Another year’s gone; there is still no peace,
The turmoil, heartache does not wish to wane,
From haunting memories there’s no release,
All efforts to heal seem to be in vain.
Nothing can repair what was once a whole…
Cheerless emptiness cries inside my soul.
