The air is fresh, the sun is warm.
The morning dew is lifting.
I think I'll go back to the farm.
That's where my thoughts keep drifting.

I wonder down the orchard lane.
Where the broken fence needs mending.
Where morning glory's softly hang.
With vines all curled and bending.

I hear the same sweet welcome
as I did in days gone by.
The happy songbirds heard so seldom
now take wing and fly.

They beckon me to join them
as they flit from tree to tree.
So I stop beneath a heavy limb
to sample fruit for free.

My mouth; it waters at the smell.
Strong and tangy sweet.
A taste remembered all to well
consumes me, head to feet.

Some things in life cannot be bought.
They come when not expected.
Like these sweet moments that I've caught
and taste has now perfected.

Beautiful poem. I like your style and your meter is perfect. [Morning glory's] is not possessive...should be 'glories' or 'glorys',
either one would do. The very last line of your poem...I think would read better if it was... 'time' has now perfected. You have talent and a classic style. Enjoyed it. ~E
