For all those that have sacrificed so much.

Those That Return

…Are Broken.
Once of sturdier mettle,
now cast as vessels
fired of delicate Human clay
and poised to crumble.

Reduced to mere Visages
layered in gleaming, smoothed surfaces
that obscure darkest imperfections
from those that peer on
without staring.

No peace
from nightmares real,
revisited time and again.

“Let go. Come back.”
We stand and plead ashamed,
fearful of what has become.

But they Must
bend until they Break
And heal to break Again.

In our hearts we Know
the ones we Love
are Lost.

There is no Return.

Hmm. This is a deeply moving piece, which immediately took my mind to the war in Iraq and our valiant stalwarts waging combat against tyranny and in favor of democracy. Your words remind us to take care of those who return to us with healing needed both internally and externally, requiring our prayers and support. Well done, my friend.

A very poignant tale, well done...

Be safe,
Karen
