Sometimes we question the path.

Adrift, ever alone,

I have walked

the path, not least traveled,

but merely least resisted.

Swirling with the wind,

alighting on places

to be called home.

What purpose my life to live?

In service of Man or God

or those I’ve loved

or my solitary self,

ever will I know?

Through earned wisdom of age

and penance of youth

only this may I divine,

we travel together to the farther shore.

Together but alone,

On the wind and nudgings of time,

guided by the hand of God,

but adrift in our own minds.

You are not really adrift. You are a great servant for God and your country. Your family is very proud of you as the family on the den is so proud of you too.
