Silent tears attack my soul

In passion’s hope I find no rest

Light fades in wisps of scattered smoke

Memories evade my minds caress

Beyond possessions and regrets

A life worth more than years reveal

Dreams fall short, they fail the test

Have I forgotten how to feel?

No answers fill the voids left by silent prayers

And in this fog of pain there’s only paths of fear

Friends have fallen from my view

Loneliness in colored hues

Shred the very essence of my soul

Darkness covets my repose

Shadows linger without end

And should I pass should I suppose

Someone would notice, some flowers send

No answers fill the voids left by silent prayers

And in this fog of pain there’s only paths of fear

Friends have fallen from my view

Loneliness in colored hues

Shred the very essence of my soul

I think I understand this all too well...losing so much more than just a dear friend...with time it will be easier to handle such a loss...specially through death!!

I like the repeating of the third and last stanzas, almost gives it a musical quality. Desperation in this weighs heavy on the reader until we are there with you.

So lonely and lost and a heavy sadness that pierces one's soul...

Be always safe,
Karen
