This is for the little boy who I look after. He has been an angel in my life and as I was watching Mass and they were talking about children, I was inspired to write this-nothing deep, just from the heart.

I Love You, Makai :)

For Makai

Little child, I love you so

I hope you always remember

the way we once smiled

together, when you’re grown

Little child, just one more hug

before you get too big

for me and all my kisses

a big man on your own

Little child, play with me

with cars and drums and games

let’s pretend you’re a dog again

and I’ll pick you out as my pet

Oh, my boy, my favorite boy,

There was so much pain before you came

so much darkness and sorrow then

where now there is only your light

Oh, my boy, my favorite boy,

I’ll always be here just for you

If things get tough when you grow up

remember the times we were two

The simplicity of what comes from the heart is always valuable.
Maybe you can give him this poem later. It's something that I would keep.

Yes, do save this one in your memoirs, or make a poster for him to hang when he is older.

Michelle,
The fourth verse triggered my tears. It's amazing how helping someone can help your own state of mind. Very touching!

To add a special bond of friendship and so much love into any childs life is something that reaps so much in benefits from both the giver and receivor. I know that you are like a big sister or favorite aunt and at times even a substitute mother for little Makai and no matter how old he gets or wherever he roams he will never forget your "special" times together. Be sure to cut and paste a copy of this for him for when he is odler.
