Walking in New York 5/2/00 by AdeS (c)

Walking in New York
Requires one to dive into the flow
The rush
The bodies already
In such motion that it is as if you are to dive into the crashing surf
Or the swinging ropes of double dutch
As you must find…just…the right place…and moment…

When walking in New York
You get caught up as if the undertow
And you must go with that flow or be dragged underneath the Broad-way.
Trampled, dodged, run-into, cursed at, said hello to, looked at as though stupid, tripped up, helped up, reached out to, looked down upon, smiled at…

If you turn at the right place at the wrong time
You are messing with the city’s chi
Disturbing the flow
Crossing the energy
Crashing the wave
Tripping up the ropes

You have to learn to fly with the flow and let it carry you down the busy streets and side alleys and walkways
And still be able to go where you need to go
