Sometimes I wonder how tough it would be
To be a mother to a kid such as me.
I know I was moody, and happy, and sad,
And playful, and quiet, and now and then mad.
At times I was headstrong, and wanted my way,
But then you would show me where my boundaries lay.
You cooked and you cleaned, and seldom did rest,
And showed that you loved me by giving your best.
So I just want to thank you for your toil and strife,
But most of all, Mom, for giving me life.
I don't often say it, 'cause that's not my way,
But know that I love you, on this Mother's Day.
