At what time did
we get there, again?
dusk or dawn
and was it raining?

just a spoke in
the wheel of fate
on soggy fortune cookie
crystal ball collectibles
another tarot truth

did we really
order the lobster
and tipped the bus-boy
as well?

a 'spot on'
premonition
the dowsing rod's
first prize
a life on easy street
the stuff large dreams
are made of

is that a chauffeur
driven limousine
and we owe that
firm how much?

tea leaves advices
in the cup of good luck
pendulum smiling this way
horoscope certainty
a future wrapped in silk

but wait a minute, honey

I never played
those numbers
never bought that ticket
never walked that road
never even had to

for
life's our relentless
lottery
and gambling seems
a little overdone.
