I cut myself shaving
and the phrenologist
laughs at my wrinkles

he says the clue is
stand-up material

the gaps tell a story
of unnecessary force
uncalled for speed

a tale of negligence
of haste & insolence

I cut myself shaving
and everybody, at the party,
prefers just to shake my hand

of course, when they'll find out
I peeled the living lights off
decency, refusing to wash up afterwards

they'll be
more than upset

and so be it,
in all truth
I had no idea
they had so much
fear of life.
