I stand back unseen...
watching in admiration as he moves from room to room

tentativly yet with confidence and grace

A well built handsome man.
His aqualine nose and strongly defined cheekbones bring memories of my father's good looks

I watch unseen...
as my grandchildren clamor around his legs begging for a ride on his broad shoulders...a push on the swing or a wild tumble in the grass.

He's their tyer of shoes...fixer of toys...dryer of tears...artist and teacher...painter of enchanting imagination

I move around unseen...
laughing as his contagious wit and quiet humor fill the cozy kitchen.

I watch him unseen...
as he moves back and forth from house to car
loading the wonderful remnants of the day...boxes bags and toys

'Daddy! Daddy!...look! I drew you a picture.  Here! show it to your heart.'

I stand unseen
As he puts down his load and crouches to a four year old's level...takes the picture...traces every detail with his fingers then moves it slowly around on his chest

'Daddy! Daddy...did your heart tell you?  Is it a good one ?'

'Yes son...I especially like this part'

How could I think that I'd been watching unseen
when all the while he was seeing me...
seeing me with his heart

My son, my amazing son...this incredible work of art

This type of amazing doesn't just happen, it is learned. My guess would be that he had an amazing teacher who, as you said, he was "seeing .. with his heart." Like this one a lot, Pat.

Thanks Dick
