A Portrait of a Family Friend in her late 80's. She died last December, one week after her son,Erik who had cancer.
A Dear FriendI will never forget you though you are gone
From our sight; but not from our minds.
We hold you dear in the recesses of the heart.
Remembering you curled up in a chair in your room,
Seeing you waiting and chatting at the Kingsville Court
Wearing your favourite snugly black and white short coat.
They will not forget you easily at Tim Horton’s;
I found you by chance there at your favourite haunt.
I reckon they’ll remember the sweet quiet lady who
Listened to their tales, joked and smiled a while or two.
They watched you walking over many a time
The staff recalls you always had one small coffee there
While you visited friends or listened, because you cared.
Others will remember you in stores up Kingsville town
When determination drove you to walk slowly down.
And as you looked, your family was always in your mind.
On trips to Cindy’s or a Christmas store, you’d buy for all;
Choosing tiny angel bells- ideal for Ebony and Nicole.
You’d come back for some more cute decorations, you said.
Appreciation for others was always going on in your head!
No wonder your family will cherish special times with youWritten by Jane on December 22nd. 2002
Now you are in heaven with God: knowing full well
That your joy is complete with son, Erik and dear Mel.
There's a story of shared sorrow and joy one special night
Around you as all the family stayed together by a cheery fire.
I was privileged to share your suffering just two weeks ago
I’ll treasure our friendship and special times now, even more.

|Jane, a beautiful tribute to what sounds like a wonderful lady! How lucky you were to have a friend like her, and I'm sure - her you. It takes a special person to both be a friend and have a friend.
