All it takes is a split second for our emotions to turn,

Once a spit ball of fire, now feeling the burn.

They can have a negative or a positive hold,

Emotions are two fold.

How to go from feeling so full of life to feeling so empty,

How to go from smiling to crying in distraught empathy,

How to go from having it all, to feeling like all has been taken,

How to go from being always on his mind to being forgotten.

So much we don’t understand,

We find ourselves asking for a helping hand.

We raise our arms to the man up above,

Seeking spiritual guidance and love.

It’s up to you to get your emotions in check,

Will you allow the blind disappointment to reap havoc?

Don’t cripple yourself emotionally and disable your ability to go on,

See the divine stepping stone laid out before for you, and move beyond.

How sweet! This is a thought provoking piece D,L.
I believe the acceptance to life's changing contrasts will guide us
along the path, as denial often sends us cascading down its slippery slopes.
Thank you for this wonderful write.:)

I know this hair-trigger temperament very well. Good description of the tight-rope walk.

Very well done. I will have to get my daughter to read this one. You have eloquently stated what I've been trying to tell her for years. Leave the past where it belongs, and move on. Really enjoyed your poem.

You've described emotions well. They can change in a split second, but you give wise advice; "Itís up to you to get your emotions in check"

Life can be a roller coaster of ups and downs that take all of our strength, faith and hope to deal with it. You captured that essence very well in this write.
