A Game of Life?
Thoughts before I leave the desert and war to play golf in 3 countries and with my daughter.
|
Now I lay my clubs to sleep
Tomorrow I pray the Lord the highest score to keep
Though I walk the hills and valleys of courses unknown,
I fear no fear, for He is with me
in rain and sleet...
If I should swing with all my might
May the white ball achieve the height,
Straight and not sliced
Down the middle and no hooks
A right wedge to choose
To get me out of trouble and stay loose
Putter for the right short game
If I miss the hole it’s not a crying shame
Driver 1,5,7 or 9
Numbers I have to keep in mind
Sand traps, bunkers, water hazards
I am inclined
But I know I will succeed
someday to be a top seed
In my mind...
I’ve done the best
to follow the rest
Sneed, Hogan, and Tiger
to name a few
Oh, I’ll never be that good
That’s not important at all.
tomorrow is just another day,
on the greens of life,
Just me, my clubs and a silly white ball.
