"...Nobody gets to live life backward. Look ahead-that's where your future lies..."

---Ann Landers---

What is a Dream put on hold?

Is it like a deafening silence?

Or is it a travesty turned inside out?

A minor complication for not being sold out

on one’s original pursuits

once upon a time so loud

Just what if it did come true ?

Life will seem proper

But most don’t even have a clue

they drift from one dream to another

You see, the secret is inside

Daily to confide

with oneself and a timeline

So, how do you put it off hold?

Work at it, fair and square

Develop work and have a spine

Like a racehorse with blinders on

champion in the trial lane

you are...

Running on a straight path

Ignoring the facts and the math

The naysayer, doubters...all

Remember your destiny is to fulfill

what you can, you’re not small

Life will deal you blows and setbacks

for sure

But know that a dream on hold

is like the missing beauty

of day to night unfold.

So go to it my friend

make your mark in the sand!

There is no greater truth than the knowledge that the future is the only thing we can control. I experienced the subject of your poem, earlier this year, and I, too, have bounced back from the struggle much better for it.

Thank you for this inspiring poem,
Jill

Excellent advice, Myles, well done - the problem with me is being told that whatever dream I have is stupid - that I will never amount to much - that I would always fail - how to destroy the tapes in my head? Plus, can't afford to go anywhere, do anything - no, I'm sorry - just having a rough patch. Pray for me -

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Don't look back, look forward I am told. Dreams on Hold is a magnificent piece of work and tells me to never give up and my dreams will come true sooner than later. I enjoyed this.
