Fence Posts

And the snow falls gently
quickly streaks my view
of the night descending
the silver shine of glare

fence posts inviting
my mind, my dreams
to roll just once and not be tired
to fly on broken wings

to soar above, no longer float
but drift against the wind
to know peace and heaven exist
to go on but not to live

sun to dry the tears of rain
and smiles to light my face
darkened colors of a rainbow
what is this thing called fate

to know the sorrow and the pain
can meet with morning's light
the blood of me freely flows
at least I know it's real

to roll just once and not be tired
to fly on broken wings
the bandage life with every challenge
to see, to know, to choose me
