Time's movements

A true but fickle friend

When our lives are filled with the excitement of joy,
time moves swiftly into the next moment,
like a busy bee drinking the nectar of a flower
only to quickly move off onto yet another.

But in times of sorrow and grieving,
time is like a featherless fledgling on a limb
waiting for its gift of flight.

When time seemingly stops,
like a day with no wind, its calmness commands the seeds of cat tails
and cotton wood to unmast their sails but only to gather at the feet of their own.

Allthewhile in its unseen chambers are its surgeons
painstakingly healing hearts that have been broken,
and searching for souls that have been lost.

Lovely texture, Dan, of things about to happen and birds about to fly.

As an old sailor and a poet I enjoyed this one dan and you did a great job of offering a thinking poem.

'like a day with no wind', perfect analogy. I like the idea of the surgeons healing the hearts that have been broken and searching for souls that have been lost. Good write.
