Riddled with vices

Allowed

Even encouraged

To brandish them with flare

Perhaps that is the delight

The pessimist

Makes the world a happier place

Because she can make mocking music

of its terrors

Brilliance in the dark

Laughter in the silence

Wit redemptive

 crowing over chaos

A Phoenix rising

from the ashes

One detail in disaster

 laughter

That is courage

The courage to seep

 into another’s bloodstream

seethed and tingling

like Champagne

Love the way you unfolded this one layer for layer with each line and the finale with the last line is stunning.

I find your poem very thought-eliciting, Deborah. I do like the way you express yourself via your verses. Do you mean "champagne" in the last verse or are you referring to the city and/or county of "Champaign?" Thank you once again for provoking thought. Love and peace to you,

Regis
