Burning Desire

Her black lashes singed,
as her eyes burned with desire,
watching him across the floor,
dancing real slow with another,
she  swept him away from her,
to the lapping waves a ’shore,
bare foot and free, they did jive,
bodies singing in harmony,
moving to the beat of maracas,
his fingers sketched upon her back,

the moon shown her deep dimple,
his smile, stole her breath away,
they were a match, lit ‘neath the heavens,
till abruptly, the music silenced,
and again, her eyes did burn,
as she watched them walk out the door

Christine, I felt like that was me in your poem. I stole a hottie on the dance floor my senior prom. His date wanted to beat me up after our passionate dance. This poem is romantic, and heartfelt. Take care my friend. ~Chessly

You take a passing admiration that bit further, Christine, so that it seems that your subject is not just deeply smitten but struck with the sudden conviction that this is "meant to be". These things are very strange and who knows, maybe a premonition of what's a bit further down the road - nothing to feel "guilty" about, just a fore-knowing without any intervention on her part... Well, at least I have tried to put another kind of spin onto this heart-swelling longing! :)) Very well constructed and emotionally acute. xx

Desire for one who is with another.
Don't you just loath that when it occurs. Such a weird pain accompanied by guilt.
