Inspired by a push from John Flanagan
.....actually, a polite suggestion~

Nature Girl

Cottonwood tree lean on me,
as I shed my troubles away,
dabbling toes in a spring brook,
wind whistling beneath my wings

Little bird come play with me,
hide and seek in cherry blossoms,
sneak warm honey from busy bees,
indulge amongst the pussy willows

Strip me naked in core of woods,
completely, rock bares the weight,
light as a feather,  I could fly,
nap upon a white linen cloud

Wise old owl tapped my shoulder,
it is dark, you better get home,
so back into my skin I did crawl,
till nature comes calling tomorrow

Christine, to the core of the emotion you ran with concepts fresh as you abandoned the baggage of mundane preconceptions we all carry, "strip me naked in core of woods" - this is fine poetry and I'm glad you shared it for our enjoyment - I wish you love and peace my dear friend - Jon Michael

Empathic are you? The beauty of transforming into something light and beautiful is astounding in the glory of those wings and within the edges of a breeze.

Quite a lesson in the birds and the bees. Makes you more than a free-spirited poet. Makes you a nature girl. Love it.

I hear the whippoorwill sing
He calls to his mate
But the hawk drives down
And digs his claws in
But all he manages to get is his torn up skin
And a few feathers plucked
Some birds have all the luck.

Delightful, whimsical and 'light as air' piece...and so beautifully written.
I saw it, felt it, and caught the lingering scent of cherry blossom...
One for my library! :)

Be careful, Christine, John is world known for getting young ladies in trouble, beware!

You had a wonderful play on words within the boundaries of this flighty and spring-like poem. I really liked the whimsical nature you promoted. Maybe John steered you in the right direction after all.
