maybe tonight
i can write like Steinbeck
and see with his wrinkled fingers, and not
with my eyes. piling on white women
as we drive down the streets
with a convertible cadillac, i would
not miss the chance of having
a flat belly for him to write on.
listening to the AM radio ramble on
about sports, life, and that cheating
husband of yours. taking on the hills
like a forgotten discourse, we would
talk like soldiers throwing hand
grenades at the fox holes. we would
laugh at the world, and throw angry
darts at the skyscrapers. piecing
together our tired little minds,
creating some medieval tales that
ebbs and flows like the winter tide.
