Broken Fence

Father Time waits for no one and marches to the beat of his own drum

Broken Fence

I wanted to see my daddy again

But not like this

I wanted to be close to daddy

But not like this

I was mad at you

And I blamed you

For keeping us apart

What seemed to make sense yesterday

Makes no sense today

Oh how I wish I could turn back

The hands of time

And

Oh how I wish my watch

Would unwind

But Father Time waits for no one

And marches to the beat

Of a different drum

Now I am looking at a fence

That can never be mended

And now there is nothing

That I can do to fix it

And now there is nothing I can say

To make it better

Because God sent his angels

To bring you home today

April this was a very heartfelt and emotional piece.Father time can be kind, but father time can be cruel too. So very sorry for your loss.....

Be safe.

What a great way to say something that I went through almost exactly. In the many years I lived with my Dad or near him, we always had trouble getting along, I felt the same regrets when he died of Alzheimers. I couldn't even reach him in the last. But you put those feelings poetically precise. I loved the "...turn back the hands of time" line. -- used it myself, but powerful here.
