I Cannot Find My Soul

To my children.

I CANNOT FIND MY SOUL...

I cannot find my Soul this morning,
I'm looking everywhere,
inside, outside, within, without...
to guess I do not dare.

I closed my eyes last night
and saw It bright and clear,
but someone must have stolen It
because It isn't here.

I sent the Butterflies to look for It
but they came back alone.
I asked the Anties to go searching
beneath some heavy stone.

I begged the Froggies to return it
in case It took a swim,
but those green Sweeties have not seen It
and hope is growing dim.

Who was it little Froggies
that took my Soul away?
And why should they desire
to cause me such dismay?

The Froggies now were silent
and so was everyone.
No creature had the answer,
of explanations none.

I cried in desperation
not knowing what to do,
and as I wept I thought my tears
would form an ocean blue.

And then I suddenly remembered
and jumped up with a start:
"Of course, of course!" I told myself
and soothed my poor old heart.
Had sent my Soul to visit you
because I missed you so,
and with you it had lingered,
back home It would not go.

I ran and stumbled in a rush
"I'm sure It must be there ! " .
And when I got to where you live
I saw It, Light and Fair.

You had been holding It beside you,
had played with It all night,
and as you gave It back to me,
your eyes were merry and bright.

Dear Love, my Soul belongs to you,
you know that's true by now.
Oh, ...play with It, enjoy It,
but please just tell me how
to get It to come back to me
when morning comes again,
so It can gather beauty all day
and bring it to you when
your eyes are closed at night.

Just call It anytime
you want my Love and Joy,
I'll fill your dreams with tenderness
and Rainbows soft and bright.

I brought my Soul back home,
returned It to my heart.

Can't blame it...just like She
from you I would not part.

Helium

Great piece. My soul and my body have never been one. I have always felt the difference between the temporary me and the eternal me very strongly. My soul took to a seed and began to feed and I grew a body that will soon be returned as required by the law of nature. All of the borrowed elements, and time will be released back to the earth where it belongs, and my soul will move on.

Soft, gentle and a tender write. Loved the meter and imageries presented in "I Cannot Find My Soul"

Enjoy your stay here at the den,

Beautiful piece of work...more in story fashion with a romantic ending. Very well done.
