My Nephew Emp died on April 10 2012 of Liver failure at 35 years old. I dont drink but I wish he hadnt either. I will miss him for the rest of my life. He was more like my brother... RIP

(Written to Drops of Jupiter by Train. YOu can see it with the video at www.renereyespoetry.com )

I see you more in my dreams
than I did in person this past year
Your warm hug s like Palamedes Swallowtail butterflies
... Your voice resonates like a lost Grammy hit in my head
Not sure I will ever be able to say those words “He’s dead”
I would rather play Frisbee with you every time I fall asleep

Scream “TAG YOUR IT”!

But no one seems to chase me nowadays
I’m sure your wings give you an unfair advantage
Yet, I really don’t mind, because I love you/

I use to hate the rainforest days,
too much water for me to stay afloat
But the flow of tears to leave me have surpassed this,
So I will seek a heavenly paddle and race you in platinum covered boat
Protect the Orr bombers because that’s something really silly you would do;
Dance on the tip of a rainbow and see if the Pot of Gold is a big fat lie
Welcome the stormy season, and in your memory find strength to cheer!

How I wish you were still here…

So tell me, Is Jesus as cool as the rumor will have it?
Did Mum ever lose that last 10 pounds?
Is Uncle Jarve still smiling and saying nothing?
Papa Eddie squinting and grinning like a birthday clown?
Did Grandpai tell you how proud he is of the work I do daily for my Country?

Does talking to you like this all day make me completely crazy?

Doesn’t matter, I love the sound of your soul
And the feel of your spirit
And the sneaky way you still sit
At the foot of my bed

I’m just trying to make peace
While playing in a moon bounce
Like when we were ten…

I love you Emp

Thank you so much Ron! This death nearly killed me and Im still ripped in many different ways, but I have to believe that God needed him more than I did and so im making my peace. He was such an amazing man and I wish your paths had crossed while he was still with us :)

I can tell you put your heart and soul in this tribute to your childhood friend and nephew. I wish he hadn't drank so much too.
