A meditation on John Taverner's polyphonic music, "Dum transisset Sabbatum"
Oh door, transit to life eternal, tomb
Of all begetting, life reassuring...
Angelic florid music, sweet trebles
Of high esteem, pitched on the translucent
Air, aroma as matter as the acts
Of motherly care, like melodic lines
Embellished with much enthralled essence.
Alternating song with whispered art -
Devotion kept to the heart, where piety
Sings of sweet murmurings, chants distilled
To counter torrents of staggered flights,
Or continuous and rhythmic message.
Essence of these angelic spirits -
Myrrh of earthly enchantment.
