Holy Grail

by Philip Fortune

Winding through my mind, I find
A vein of images unwind,
Flashbacks of tomorrow, rack
The dawn, when dreams role back,
And then a sunny plangency
Completes that moment’s tangency;
But when I try to pierce the veil
And reach and clasp reality,
It vanishes like the Holy Grail
And fades into eternity.
