If I Could Choose

If I could choose my place to die,
it would be there,
my head in the cradle of your shoulder,
bodies entwined,
my hand caressing the soft fur on your chest.

If I could choose my last minute,
it would be there,
your soft whispers of love in my ear
while I breathe you in,
lost in the awe of us.

If I could choose where to take my last breath,
it would be there,
hearts matching rhythms,
eyes mirroring the wonder
of what we'd just shared.
If I could choose.

You have such a great knack for describing the perfect world, not only as a children's author, but as a writer of the heart. It is a great author doesn't write in the abstract, but can send our minds into any direction the reader chooses to go.

Sweet sentimental and so endearing, that sounds like it would be a fitting ending to die in the arms of someone who you love.
