Woe are the sins of the vulnerable and secular man--wish we could all be Godly instead of just reaching for the Holy Grail and God's own grace. Your poem strikes a strong message.

Self-appointed “anythings” always make me rather suspicious… and cautious. ;0)
This is a great first “senryu”, dear CJ. Unlike “haiku”, which must indeed be about nature, “senryu”, using the same structure and syllabic count, was classically used with a humorous, rather satirical intention. Here, you used it as a critique of one of the “snakiest” types of personality there can be – the hypocrite - and you did it brilliantly!

Hi CJ,

This seems to be more of a senryu, since a haiku is generally about nature...Nevertheless, you've nailed the syllabic count--with a stinging line 1. Nice work.
