Moments in Time

Our most tender moments
are flash-frozen
and locked away
by an efficient mind
to suspend,
waiting patiently,
like fruit
in a gelatin salad.
I find it astonishing
how easily my senses
can pick the lock,
and once freed,
how quickly
those same moments
are breathed
back to life.
Today in a crowd,
I caught the scent
of his cologne

What a fabulous family of words, CJ.

With a quick noting of the reviews below, one can see easily what a touchstone you created. Everyone has a secret place in their heart that erupts in a fountain of emotions when the right trigger is pulled. Oftentimes, its unplanned, powerful, totally beyond our control.

Your closing lines say it all:
"Today in a crowd,
I caught the scent of his cologne..."

O, yes, how strongly we identify. And love those "Moments in Time."

As always, CJ, your words move us from deep within.

Love to you,
Richard

What beautiful imagery: 'flash - frozen' 'efficient mind' 'waiting patiently' 'pick that lock' 'breathed back to life' all adds up to a mind ever mindful of a trigger to release the appropriate moment in order to please our senses.

Your writings reveal a craftswoman possessed with a fathomless cerebral repository of words, phrases, clauses, similes, anecdotes, imagery and metaphors etc to enrich us with.

CJ.

Thanks for the memories. You've made a few moments stand still for me.

This poem is an excellent example of how well written, simple words can profoundly express mystery, romance and sensuality. This poem gives the reader just enough information to allow them to gather whatever scents or memories they wish but not overpower them with Brut-ish excess. Less is more and this poem is proof.

Sometimes memories turn themselves into a very tiny, nearly invisible one inside your shoe getting your attention, no letting you to ignore it until you give it its time.
Then, are those provoked memories by someone going by leaving that special scent...

It is very true that a scent or a sound (music) can bring back a memory in a flash, CJ. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Poetic feast abounds in the "Moments in Time" ~ poetized with words that sound pholosophic-romantic-spiritual.

I salute You, Poet.

CJ again this captures so well that split second that a scent, a glance, a touch or somthing can trigger memories and love locked far away and forgotten. Sweet expressions of a lingering love.

This is riveting CJ, and one I can definitely relate to. I was once bent over selecting cereal at the grocery store when a whiff of his cologne (so to speak) went walking behind me. Turned out that my heart didn't need to jump into my throat because the wearer was an old duffer who had to be at least 90 or more. Talk about a slosh of cold water in the face! Tee hee! :-) Love, Michelle
