Two Wheels Good: A True Story

Some vehicles are more equal than others.

I've never written much "serious" poetry, being better at fiction and nonfiction. But some life experiences just can't be documented in ordinary prose. This silly little rhyme is from Sheep Football and Other Strange Tales

Once I had a little car.
It never traveled very far.
On every trip I’d end up towed.
I rode my bike, unless it snowed.
My car broke down again today.
There’s only one thing left to say.
My bike has never made me sad.
Two wheels good…

         Four wheels bad.

I love this poem. It is well written. Also, I want to mention that with the price of gas these days, i think your poem would be great in a commercial! I look forward to reading more of your work. Please stop into my authors den sometime, as I would love to hear your review of one of my poems or short stories.

Hello Eric,

This is my style of poetry-wish you'd write more of it.

two wheels are good, sometimes safer and faster than four, in the summer time here in northern mi, people seem to be on two wheels, been thinking about it myself, havne't been on one, in such a long time, they say you never forget, but it seems to be the way to go, esepically the price of gas these days.

We had a car like that while we were growing up.
We called her "Rolls Canardly" (Short for Can Hardly Roll)

You took me back to that time with your humor.
