Ocean's Roar

I can't escape...

I could run to the farthest beach, but
It wouldn't be far enough
Because I can still hear your voice
Over the ocean's roar.
Singing, but,
No longer to me.
I feel as if you've ripped my heart out
of my chest
Holding it beating in your hands
Laughing at my naivete.
I feel as though we really never had a chance
to find out if we could work.

You sing your songs to another
as if I never existed in your life.
You don't even say hello anymore
Unless I say it first.
Your smile melts my heart and makes me sad.
You have no idea how much I care for you.
Would you even care if you did?

I feel used and neglected,
Stupid and naive.
I'd found nirvana lying in your arms.
Now, I have nothing
Except the memory of what never was.
