And The Whippoorwill Sang
by Micki Peluso

This is a funny, poignant, sad, true story of a large family of eight. It's full of adventure, a haunted home, comedic antics and a wonderful life-- until tragedy strikes..

There are too many of you and you all do too much stuff.

No matter how long I spend killing the hours of my life in an attempt to apprehend such a large, ever changing, vastly complex organism I always find myself;

Behind.

Ignorant.

Foreign.

Overdue.

Too smart.

Not smart enough.

Enslaved by my own personal dogmas.

The spheres of influence poses too great a cultural challenge for any one man, for there are too many;

Each an enigmatic tome worthy of a lifetime of study all its own.

I admit defeat in my effort to simultaneously apprehend you,

but am excited at the prospect of forevermore being your slack-jawed observer;

constantly in awe of whatever new anomaly you choose to bring before me.
